The joining of two persons in sacred covenant is a holy moment. As you celebrate your love and freely give yourselves to one another in the presence of God and the gathered community of your family and friends, you demonstrate the inclusive and self-giving love of God. This covenant is a sacred commitment that should be entered into prayerfully and responsibly.
We affirm that, as covenant relationships made in the presence of God, both same-gender and heterosexual weddings hold the same sacred legitimacy and value. We therefore support the participation of our minister and the use of the North Cornwall and Village Meeting Houses for services marriage ceremonies.
We believe that opening our sanctuaries to use by non-members can be occasions to demonstrate Christian hospitality. Therefore, wedding services of both members and non-members may be held in the church sanctuaries.
The sacrament of baptism is open to any person who desires to enter into its promises. It is hoped that parents bringing their child for baptism will honor their commitment by becoming active in the life of a Christian church, either the United Church of Christ in Cornwall or one in their hometown. …Prior to the baptism, the pastor will meet with the parents of the child who will be baptized, or in the case of older children and adults the person him/herself, to discuss the meaning of baptism. Please feel free to contact us for further information!
